Your nervous system and bodywork.
Tissue does not release on command. It releases when your system decides it is safe.

You cannot force a body to let go. I learned that early. Push harder into a guarded muscle and it guards harder. Tissue releases when the nervous system decides it is safe, not before.
Why safety is mechanism
Your nervous system sets the baseline tension in your whole body. When it reads threat, pain, stress, even a practitioner moving too fast, it keeps the tissue braced. When it feels safe, the same tissue softens on its own. So how a session feels is not separate from whether it works. It is part of how it works.

How I work with it
We stay in conversation the whole time. I pace to your body, never past what you can take, and I let your system lead the release rather than forcing it. That is why most people describe the work as intense but satisfying, not painful.
Tissue lets go when the system feels safe. So safety is not the bedside manner. It is the work.
And it is why the change holds. A nervous system that learned it could let go does not snap back to bracing the moment you leave.
- The nervous system sets the body’s baseline tension.
- Forcing a guarded body makes it guard harder.
- Feeling safe is mechanism, not just comfort.
- A calm system releases tissue and helps the change last.
